Oven Preheat Door Locked

If it s still locked start an oven cleaning cycle.

The door will also lock during the self cleaning cycle and won t unlatch until the temperature inside the oven cools to about 200 degrees fahrenheit. Allow the oven to cool approximately 30 90 minutes move the latch arm to the left to unlock the door. Once cool reset it again to your desired baking temperature. If that does not unlock the door run a short self clean cycle 1 2 hours.

Press cancel off key to start a latch reset wait 20 30 seconds and open door turn the power off at the circuit breaker or fuse box for one minute then turn the power back on. Once inside the oven switch the lock from the inside of the oven. Detach the oven door.

Many newer ovens will have these screws more concealed than older models. Sometimes the cleaning process will take over and unlock your oven as it should when cleaning is complete. If you still cannot unlock the door then you can check the oven temperature sensor from the back. Remove power again and remove the back panel.

If you re still not having any luck run the shortest cleaning cycle you can on your oven. Allow the cleaning cycle to run for about 60 seconds and then cancel it. If you suspect that the sensor is at fault you should first remove the power to the oven for a few moments and then reconnect. If no food or utensils are in the oven start a self clean cycle then hit clear off after 60 seconds.

The oven door has been locked accidentally if there is food in the oven let the oven cool to room temperature and try to unlatch the door. If your oven has an auto lock it should only engage during the self clean cycle. If there are screws near the top or front that attach the oven top to the base unscrew them and pull the oven top up. Should the oven lock during a bake cycle press the clear off pad and allow the range to cool to room temperature.

Clear the lock mechanism as indicated by the door loc light by pressing and holding in the oven door light switch for 20 to 30 seconds. This may reset the control and allow you to unlock the door.
